As part of their commitment to supporting young people through sports, GoClark Sports & Events (GoClark) donated new shoes to 20 Aeta children during the second leg of the Pho3nix Kids Triathlon held on April 15 at Fontana Leisure Park here.
Leading the shoe donation were Coach Abe Tayag, race director Jumbo Tayag, senior sports photographer Marvin Manalang, and Allan Galang all from GoClark.
“At the end of the day, sports is about community and lifting each other up. That’s what makes it so special,” said Coach Abe.
“We want to inspire the Aeta children to pursue their dreams and goals through sports and we hope these new shoes will help them in that journey,” he added.
The joint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) effort between GoClark and Pho3nix Foundation involves donating shoes to Aeta children, with Roman Floesser, the Regional Director for Pho3nix Foundation in Asia, committing to partnering with GoClark to make this happen.
This decision was made after observing that the Aeta children who participated in the inaugural Pho3nix Kids Philippines event on March 18 were wearing slippers, prompting the shoe drive to provide them with appropriate footwear.
In addition to the brand-new shoes, each Aeta child received a set of new socks, a drawstring bag, and Milo chocolate-flavored malted powder packets.
Pho3nix Kids organizers firmly believe in the inclusive nature of sports, where individuals from all backgrounds and social standings are encouraged to participate.
The next Pho3nix Kids Philippines event is scheduled for May 20, 2023, at the New Clark City, and the Pho3nix Foundation is committed to continuing its support of youth through sports activities.
