Fugitives arrested at Comelec checkpoint

CAMP OLIVAS — Central Luzon police on Friday arrested a most wanted person (MWP) and another fugitive at a PNP-COMELEC checkpoint in Aurora.

In a report to PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr.,  Eleuterio Areola, a top 5 wanted person, was caught when police manning a checkpoint in Dingalan stopped him for not wearing a helmet while driving a plateless motorcycle.

Upon record checking, the police found out that Areola has a standing warrant for attempted murder prompting them to arrest him.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old  Nazer Lozano, was passing by a  checkpoint when a cop identified him as one of the wanted persons in the area for estafa.

The PNP and Comelec have set up checkpoints in connection with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) period that started last August 28.

“These law enforcement checkpoints have been proven effective in our anti-criminality campaign over the years. I commend our troops for their remarkable performance of their duties,” said Hidalgo.
