Supporters mob Ponce as he votes in Balibago

Balibago village chief aspirant Joseph PG Ponce was mobbed by his fellow Balibagoños as he went to a Gueco Elementary School to cast his vote on Monday, Oct. 30.

Ponce had a slight hard time entering and egressing the school as supporters tried to greet and shake hands with the former city councilor.

Wearing a red shirt sans the Team PG Ponce symbol, Ponce sat beside fellow voters inside Precinct #0065A.

Outside the precinct were supporters trying to get a glimpse of Ponce. A woman said in the vernacular, “‘Apin yan ing Kapitan ku! Ala nang aliwa, bayu naman!”

As he exited the school, supporters cheered him and shouted, “Kap PG Ponce! Kap PG Ponce!”

The smiling Ponce humbly thanked them but were courteously asked to stop and said, “Baka ma-teknikal tayo.” Campaigning, which ended last Saturday, is not allowed on the day of the elections.

Asked if he was confident about the would-be results of the election, the 52-year old candidate answered in the affirmative. However he reitererated, “I called on our voters to ditch vote buying and selling to protect the sanctity of the electoral process. Dapat ng wakasan ang kanser ng lipunan na ito.”

Before voting, Ponce had coffee, egg, and hotdog for breakfast. After leaving the voting center, he went straight to his campaign headquarter to monitor the election process which is estimated to lasts until early Oct.31.
