The Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) presents “KALON,” its maiden exhibit.
This diverse collection comes from dermatologist-artists who are members of the PDS. Skin, hair and nail authorities in clinical practice, some of whom have also ventured into law, clinical epidemiology, creative writing, research and education.
Many of the works have been exhibited or gained recognition in the past, in such esteemed places as the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo, the 2022 National Pastel Competition, and the 2021 Art by Women in Science Exhibition in Paris, France.
Participating artists include Drs. Christine Agda-Dy, Jocel Buensalido, Janet de Grano, Virgie Ritz Bambi M. Dy, Sylvia Jacinto, Maria Encarnacion R. Legaspi, Esther Leynes, Monina Macam, Amelia Medina-Davies, Julie Ann Songco, Cyrene C. Tan, Elizabeth Amelia V. Tianco, and Pampanga’s very own Maria Teresa S. Tolosa (aka Tec Sanchez-Tolosa, Kapampangan Poet Laureate).
Nature is the predominant theme in the representational pieces included in this gathering. Flowers, trees, leaves, water, seas and landscapes fill the canvases. The other works convey meanings discerned through quiet reflection. KALON promises to deliver an experience through beauty, beyond that’s seen on the surface.
The exhibit is open from November 4-9, 2023 from 9am to 5pm at the PDS House, 73 Malakas St., Bgy. Pinyahan, Quezon City.
