VDR’s Gaza is SK Federation president

Richard Gasa Jr. of Virgen Delos Remedios, who ran unopposed was hailed as the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President and will automatically sit as ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Angeles City.

Also elected during Tuesday’s Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Election on Tuesday at the Angeles City Legislative Building were: Dennis Duya of Cutcut, Vice President; Janet Phoemela David of Lourdes Sur, Secretary; Verano Conese of Lourdes Sur, Treasurer; Aron Timbol of Cuayan, Auditor, Axcel Jhon Tanhueco of Pulung Bulu, Public Relations Officer (PRO), and John Loud Bati of San Nicolas, Sergeant at Arms.

Angeles City Mayor Camelo Pogi Lazatin Jr. officiated the oath taking of the said officials after the proclamation of the official winners and posed a challenge for the federation members to serve with excellence, integrity and nobody should be left behind for the sake of genuine public service.

Adhering to 2023 SK Elections guidelines, all federation elections should be held not later than November 15. It should be held in a public place and DILG should ensure the presence of all elected SK chairpersons of all barangays.

Some sources said the average income of an SK chairperson in today’s election of Federation President and officials ranges from P5,000 up.

The secret balloting process and mandatory DILG seminar for newly elected officials were key aspects of the election protocol. Each barangay, represented by one SK chair and seven SK kagawads, played a crucial role in this democratic process.

The SK Federation Election was overseen by the Department of Interior and Local Government-AC represented by City Director Yvette Cosio, BES Chairperson, in partnership with Election Officer Atty. Leonelle Yalung, Board of Election Supervisor (BES)-Commission on Elections (COMELEC); P/Col. Amado Mendoza Jr., Panel of Observer/Angeles City Police Director-Philippine National Police; Percival Capitulo, Panel Observer/Education Program Supervisor-Department of Education; Atty. Mark Philip Lumboy, BES/Sangguniang Panlungsod Secretary; and Rocelson Barantez, Panel of Observer/President, CCSG Cobra (NGO Observer).
