A total of 466 representatives of micro establishments in the province of Tarlac received free training on emergency first aid in the workplace from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
This falls under the Technical and Advisory Visit program of the agency, which aims to provide orientation, seminars, and other forms of assistance.
DOLE Tarlac Head Jose Roberto Navata emphasized the essential nature of emergency first aid in the workplace.
“In small businesses, having staff trained on first aid is crucial because it ensures there’s always someone ready to help in case of emergencies, potentially saving lives and minimizing harm,” Navata said.
A total of 15 batches were conducted in the municipalities of Sta. Ignacia, Camiling, Moncada, Paniqui and Victoria, and the city of Tarlac.
One of the beneficiaries, Marilou Navida, acknowledged the benefits of the activity in their day-to-day operations.
“We thank DOLE for this training. Your commitment to equipping our community with life-saving skills is invaluable. Thank you for empowering us to make a difference in critical situations,” she said.
The training series was conducted in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
