Subic, Zambales – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently constructing a flood mitigation project that will help alleviate the rise of water in the flood-prone area of Barangay Matain of this town.
According to Zambales 2nd District Engineer Rosbe Dizon that flood mitigation structure will protect public infrastructures and facilities, and will improve the flow of water in the Matain River, adding that this will prevent buildup in areas that are prone to flooding.
He also added that the construction of the slope protection project in this town will be completed before the end of the year. The project, divided into three sections, is situated at the mouth of the Matain River.
With a project title Convergence and Special Support Program under the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects, the flood mitigation project has an allotted budget of P94,309,220.10, which started on February 16 of this year, and assured that this will completed by December 11, 2024.
