Guo, Ong detained in Indonesia

Senator Raffy Tulfo has shared photos of Shiela Leal Guo, the sister of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong following their arrest by Indonesian immigration authorities. According to Tulfo’s post, the two are expected to return to the Philippines from Jakarta at 5:05 PM today.

On August 20, Guo and Ong were apprehended at Mega Mall Batam Centre, located in Riau, Indonesia. Indonesian immigration officials took them into custody, but Alice Guo, who was believed to have escaped capture, was not with them.

Ong, who represented the Porac, Pampanga-based Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) hub, was arrested alongside Guo. Upon their detention, Indonesian authorities promptly informed the Philippine Bureau of Immigration. Subsequently, on August 21, a team from the Bureau of Immigration flew to Jakarta to coordinate their return.

Tulfo’s update highlighted the swift actions taken by Indonesian authorities and the Philippine Bureau of Immigration in addressing the situation. The capture of Guo and Ong marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to manage and regulate the activities of offshore gaming operators and related issues.

The Philippine authorities are now preparing for the arrival of the detainees and are expected to take further actions based on the developments in this case. –Socmed Photos
