AUF-SOL successfully launches ‘Legal Clinic’

Angeles University Foundation – School of Law (AUF-SOL) formally launched the AUF-SOL Legal Clinic at the AUF Professional Schools (PS) Building yesterday, September 30.

The official launch was attended by University officials led by University President Atty. Joseph Emmanuel L. Angeles, AUF-SOL Dean Hon. Ret Supreme Court Justice Jose C. Vitug, AUF-SOL assistant dean Atty. Arnold de Vera, AUF-SOL Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) Director Atty. Camille Ross Parpan, and key government officials led by Angeles City Vice-Mayor Hon. Ma. Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting, Angeles City Justice Zone Convenor Hon. Executive Judge Eda P. Dizon, IBP Pampanga President Atty. Alejandro Buan, DILG Angeles City Director Yvette Cosio, AUF-SOL alumni, professors, and members of the local media.  

The 2-part event kicked off with an opening ceremony and formal blessing of the AUF-SOL Legal Clinic officiated by University chaplain Rev. Fr. Jaycar Silva, followed by a Fireside Chat on the topic “Access to Justice / Emerging issues in Angeles City moderated by AUF-SOL College Secretary Atty. Jessiery Mae Corpuz.

The Legal Clinic forms part of the AUF-SOL’s Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP), which began in Academic Year 2021-2022 with the aim of producing ethical, competent, practice-ready and socially-committed lawyers. It further aims to provide a meaningful avenue for members of the community to access legal information, and to assist in improving access to justice. Since then, the AUF-SOL CLEP has been conducting various activities through the following areas of service: Policy Advocacy, Community Engagement and Empowerment, and Legal Assistance through Legal Counseling, all informed by the tenets of Developmental Legal Advocacy.

Starting October 1, 2024, the AUF-SOL Legal Clinic will provide free legal counseling on certain thematic areas (Barangay Assistance, Women and Children, Human Trafficking, Labor and Environment).

The Legal Clinic is found on the first floor of the PS Building, MacArthur Highway, Angeles City. It will be open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
