Athena Bryana Tolentino becomes Cavite’s governor

Vice Governor Athena Bryana Tolentino was sworn in as Cavite’s new—and first female—governor on Tuesday, October 8. Her ascension follows the appointment of her predecessor, Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr., as the new Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

At just 26 years old, Tolentino brings a fresh perspective to the role, continuing a family legacy of public service; she is the daughter of Philippine Olympic Committee President and Tagaytay Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and the niece of Senate Majority Leader Francis “Tol” Tolentino. Her leadership marks a historic moment for the province.
