Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), extended much-needed assistance to over 1,041 Kapampangans inflicted with polio on Friday, October 18.
Governor Delta and DSWD Field Office 3 Regional Director Venus Rebuldela led the distribution of P 3,000 cash aid to the beneficiaries.
The governor thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Secretary Rex Gatchallian for the continued support of the national government to the marginalized sectors of the province through the DSWD’s Assistance in Crisis Situation Program (AICS).
“Kung nanu man pu reng programa mi, gagawan mi pu para kareng Kapampangan. Asahan yu pu reng pera na ning Kapitolyu mibabalik la ngan pu kareng tau, kareng mangailangan. Parati yu pung tandanan, kung atin kayung kailangan, ating pamilyang sumaup pu kekayu, ikami pung nanay sopan da kayu,” he said.
Among those who benefited was 53-year-old Adrian Eduvan, a PWD who was diagnosed with polio at the age of two due to a lack of vaccination.
Since then, he has lived with weakened legs and has been reliant on a wheelchair. Moved to tears, Adrian expressed his gratitude for the assistance given to him, stating, “Nakikita ko ang pagtulong niya sa amin, halos lahat kaming may disability hindi niya nakakalimutang bigyan ng tulong.”
Aside from cash assistance, beneficiaries also received multivitamins, maintenance medicines, groceries, hotdogs, chicken, and transportation fare from the provincial government.
