The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has initiated two essential training programs aimed at bolstering law enforcement capabilities in response to contemporary crime trends. The programs commenced on October 21, 2024, focusing on intelligence operations and combating internet crimes against children.
The first initiative, a 60-day Intelligence Basic Course, is designed for both commissioned and non-commissioned officers. Facilitated by the Regional Intelligence Division under the guidance of PCOL Lucile Faycho, the course provides participants with critical skills in intelligence-gathering techniques, strategic analysis, and operational planning vital for effective policing.
Concurrently, the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division—specifically the Women and Children’s Protection Desk—has launched a five-day seminar on Basic Internet Crimes Against Children, in partnership with the International Justice Mission (IJM). This seminar aims to equip officers with specialized knowledge to combat online child exploitation, covering investigative techniques, cybercrime forensics, and collaboration with international agencies to safeguard minors from digital threats.
PRO3 Director PBGen Redrico A. Maranan expressed strong support for both training initiatives, highlighting their importance in preparing officers for the evolving landscape of crime. “As crime continues to change, our personnel must enhance their intelligence capabilities to tackle emerging threats, especially internet crimes targeting children,” he stated. “PRO3 is committed to ensuring community safety through ongoing training and development.”
