Aegis singer Mercy Sunot dies, leaving a legacy of music

The music industry mourns the loss of Mercy Sunot, one of the iconic voices behind the legendary Filipino rock band Aegis. Sunot passed away after a valiant battle with cancer, as confirmed by the band on their Facebook page, Monday, November 18.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest,” the band announced.

Mercy, along with her sisters Juliet and Ken, defined Aegis’ unique sound, captivating audiences with powerful renditions of classic hits such as “Luha,” “Basang-basa Sa Ulan,” “Halik,” and “Sinta.”

In a heartfelt tribute, Aegis described Mercy as a beacon of comfort and inspiration. “Mercy’s voice wasn’t just a part of AEGIS — it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many. Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts,” the band wrote.
