The students of Mabalacat City College (MCC), through its official student publication, The Equalizer, issued a statement regarding the deferment of the city’s budget for MCC, a decision made during the recent budget deliberation with the local officials of the city held at Clark Marriott Hotel.
It’s December. The last month of the year. A season of giving, or so it’s supposed to be, especially for children – students, so to speak. The academe is facing what could be its most significant crisis yet, according to the student publication.
The budget deferment, as reported, allegedly stems from allegations of corruption within the MCC. How true are these claims? Are these merely rumors or could this be an indicator of a deeper issue?
The decision to delay funding, if not resolved soon, may force the college to halt its operations by January 2025, affecting not only the administration and faculty but also the 4,500 students currently enrolled.
Despite growing concerns, would local officials allow this threat of an operational pause for MCC? I doubt it. There are questionable activities that certainly need to be addressed.
