Pineda-Cayabyab donates free eyeglasses to SFES students

Some 1,000 students from kindergarten to grade 6, along with 400 teaching and non-teaching staff, received free eyeglasses from CSF mayoralty candidate Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab on Wednesday, January 08.

The distribution took place at San Fernando Elementary School as part of the ongoing Libreng Salamin Project initiated by Pamilya Pineda.

The Libreng Salamin Project aims to provide free eye check-ups and eyeglasses not only for students but also for their parents, teachers, and non-teaching personnel. This initiative is funded through Pineda-Cayabyab’s personal resources.

To date, the initiative has reached nearly 30,000 students across various schools in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga ensuring that vision impairments do not hinder academic performance.

Pineda Cayabyab expressed her personal connection to the project, sharing her own experience of struggling with poor eyesight during her childhood. “When I was young, I always thought that the blackboard was really blurred until my parents had my eyes checked and confirmed that I have bad eyesight,” she recalled. Her experience drives her commitment to help others in similar situations.

The project also aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and teachers who often face high costs when purchasing eyeglasses. By providing these essential tools, Pineda- Cayabyab hopes to improve students’ focus and performance in school, allowing them to see clearly and engage more effectively in their education.

Education remains a top priority for Cayabyab, who believes that initiatives like the Libreng Salamin Project can significantly uplift students and foster a better learning environment.

In gratitude for the support, students and teachers expressed their appreciation to Pineda-Cayabyab for her contributions to their education and well-being.
