CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines—For 30-year-old Jennylyn Lacson, a housewife with four children, payday brought relief and hope.
“Salamat, Gov. Malaking tulong po ito. May pambili na po ako ng bigas,” Lacson said after receiving her P5,025 wage under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.
Lacson is among 965 beneficiaries of the program in San Fernando, Pampanga, who worked for 10 days cleaning roads, rivers, and canals. The payout was personally distributed by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, and other local officials on January 16.
The program, implemented in partnership with the Provincial Capitol, has supported 31,383 residents since last year.
Officials emphasized that TUPAD offers critical financial support to disadvantaged workers, especially those affected by the pandemic, while promoting community cleanliness and development.
