CABANATUAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 234-square meter school building in Rizal, Nueva Ecija.
Located at Aglipay Elementary School, the one-story, two-classroom structure now provides a spacious and well-ventilated learning environment for both pupils and faculty.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st District OIC Engineer Jun Vana emphasized that the project can accommodate at least 120 students, addressing the current room shortage and supporting the school’s future needs.
“This new facility is designed to alleviate overcrowding and provide a more effective learning and teaching environment, supporting future growth for Aglipay Elementary School,” Vana said.
He added that the facility features a corridor, reinforced concrete gutters for better drainage, handwashing stations, a Persons with Disabilities ramp with handrails for accessibility, window grilles for added safety, parapet walls, and a toilet for each classroom, ensuring a functional and safe space for learning.
School Principal Eduardo Alcantara Jr. expressed appreciation for the new building, noting that it has positively impacted students’ motivation to study.
“Tingnan niyo ‘yong mga bata, very positive sila ngayon na mag-aral, at malaking bagay na nabigyan sila ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng panibagong building sa Aglipay Elementary School na magagamit ng aming mga batang mag-aaral, na siyang magiging susunod na lider ng ating bayan (Look at the children, they are very positive now about studying, and it’s a big deal that they’ve been given the opportunity to have a new building at Aglipay Elementary School, which will be used by our young students, who will be the future leaders of our town),” Alcantara said.
The P4.9-million project was funded under the Department of Education’s Basic Education Facilities Fund as part of the government’s continued commitment to improving educational infrastructure and providing students with better learning conditions. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
