CDC hosts job fair to jumpstart careers for transitioning workers, job seekers

CLARK FREEPORT—Clark Development Corporation (CDC), in collaboration with 37 participating Clark locators, organized a job fair on February 12 to connect transitioning workers with employment opportunities across various industries.

CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera interacted with some 180 job seekers and companies at the Health and Sanitation Division’s (HSD) Training Hall on February 12. The one-day job fair provided 2,231 job vacancies.

These opportunities were available to former CDC contractual employees, CDC dependents, jobseekers from Fontana Development Corp. (FDC) and Fontana Resort and Country Club, Inc. (FRCCI), as well as the general public.

The initial job fair evaluation results, based on multiple applications to various companies, showed that 36 candidates will take a trade test, 294 will have further interviews, 88 are considered for future vacancies, and three were hired on the spot, according to the CDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Placement Division.

Job seekers share their experiences at the job fair. Adrian Manlapat, a former fixed-term employee at CDC, praised the organization for its efforts in hosting the job fair.

“Today’s job fair was well organized, featuring a clean venue, diverse companies with welcoming recruiters, a smooth interview process, and a steady flow of applicants,” Manlapat said.

Jose Zaragoza, a former employee of FDC, expressed his gratitude after receiving two job offers.

“Malaking bagay samin ‘to, thank you po sa opportunity na ‘to. Dahil kung hindi dahil dito, hindi ako agad makakahanap ng trabaho. Tsaka mas madali dito dahil andyan na, ikaw na lang ‘yung pipili,” he said. (“This is a big help for us; thank you for this opportunity. Because if not for this, I wouldn’t find a job immediately. And it’s easier here because the opportunities are already available; you just have to choose.”)

Jia Santos, a walk-in applicant, highlighted the convenience of the event.

“Convenient siya para sa aming mga walang trabaho kasi pupunta ka rito tapos maraming companies na pwedeng applyan, hindi na kailangan magpunta company to company, dito lahat ng openings ng private companies sa Clark, makikita na,” Santos said. (“It’s convenient for us who are unemployed because you come here, and there are many companies you can apply to; you don’t need to go from company to company; all the openings of private companies in Clark are here.”)

Companies from various industries, including manufacturing, industrial, tourism, information and communications technology (ICT), and the service sector, participated in the job fair. The job fair aimed to help job seekers learn about available job opportunities here and build stronger connections between employers and the community.
