The Philippine Airlines Foundation (PAL Foundation) was recently honored with the Golden Legacy Award by the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) during PHC’s 50th Golden Anniversary Celebration at the Manila Hotel.
PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley Ng, who also serves as PAL Foundation President, accepted the award on behalf of the airline’s corporate social responsibility arm.
Strengthening PAL-PHC Partnership
Through its long-standing collaboration with PHC, the PAL Foundation has undertaken key initiatives to support indigent patients and medical professionals, including:
Medical Travel Grant Program – Providing air travel assistance to underprivileged patients from different provinces who require life-saving treatment in Manila.
Regional Cardiac Care Support – Facilitating flights for PHC medical teams assigned to establish regional cardiac centers nationwide. These centers allow patients to access sponsored cardiovascular surgery without the need to travel to Manila.
The Medical Travel Grant Program aligns with PAL Foundation’s mission to leverage the airline’s airlift capabilities and resources to assist marginalized sectors of society. The initiative is also integrated with PAL’s Mabuhay Miles with a Mission Program, which enables frequent flyers to donate miles for humanitarian causes.
A Milestone in Medical Philanthropy
Present during the awarding ceremony were PHC Executive Director Dr. Avenilo L. Aventura (third from left), Deputy Executive Director for Research and Education Dr. Ma. Theresa Abola (second from left), Deputy Executive Director for Hospital Support Services Josephine G. Lopez (leftmost), Deputy Executive Director for Medical Services Dr. Tony Pascual (third from right), Deputy Executive Director for Nursing Services Ms. Criselle Galang, RN (second from right), and Department Head for Pediatric Cardiology Dr. Juliet Balderas (rightmost).
With this recognition, PAL Foundation reaffirms its commitment to making a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector, further strengthening its partnership with PHC to extend vital medical assistance across the country.
