MANILA, Philippines – The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has urged Australian firms in the ICT and cybersecurity sectors to explore strategic partnerships with local companies to strengthen the country’s digital defenses. The call was made during the Australian Tech Innovation Mission: Cybersecurity Site Visit, organized by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).
Engr. Stevenson Tugas of BCDA’s ICT Department highlighted the agency’s efforts to provide fast, reliable, and affordable internet through the National Fiber Backbone Project. He also discussed the ongoing selection of a joint venture partner for ICT infrastructure in New Clark City, emphasizing the need for robust security measures to protect digital infrastructure.

“We are committed to collaborating with everyone to strengthen our cybersecurity posture and build a safer future for the Philippines,” Tugas said. His remarks underscored the importance of cybersecurity in supporting the country’s growing digital economy.
