ANGELES CITY, Philippines – Two days before the official start of the campaign period for the 2025 National and Local Elections, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. led the removal of election-related materials across the city on Tuesday, March 26. The cleanup covered posters, wall murals, and other campaign materials displayed in public spaces.
Lazatin’s directive follows Section 29 of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution 11086, which mandates candidates and political parties to remove all prohibited campaign materials at least 72 hours before the official campaign period begins. The mayor, now on his second term, is running unopposed for Pampanga First District Representative. Team Lazatin personnel were seen clearing posters in all 33 barangays.
The COMELEC, in a notice dated March 25, ordered candidates to remove oversized or improperly placed materials, regardless of who posted them. Lazatin urged Angeleños to ensure a peaceful and orderly election, reminding voters that emotions may run high but respect and fairness should prevail. “Let’s keep the elections peaceful and orderly,” he said.
