Pampanga quarry revenue hits P370M in 2016

CITY of SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Provincial government of Pampanga has posted a record breaking collection of more than P370 million from its quarry operations in 2016.

According to Art Punzalan, head of the Pampanga Environment and Natural Resources Office, their records showed that collection for 2016 has brought the quarrying operation revenues to P2.07 billion from July,2010, when Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda assumed her post up to March 30, 2017.

For 2016, the provincial government collected P370,800,000.

Pineda said “We are happy in the province because we have reached the two billion marked which was our target in 2016.”

“This will come a long way specially on our health and education programs,” according to Pineda.

Punzalan said they are now still doubling their efforts to further increase collections and to ensure strict monitoring of quarry operations in Pampanga.

“Sand is a blessing after Mt Pinatubo spewed sand and other volcanic materials after erupting in 1991 and the resilience of the Capampangan helped us in the development of our sand industry,” Pineda said.

Punzalan said, revenues collected in 2015 was P331,660,000. From January to March 30, 2017, the revenue has already reached P98,120,000. –Froilan E. Magtoto
