ANGELES CITY – Angeleños can pay real property taxes (RPTs) via credit cards in the comfort of their homes, once Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. implements the RPT online payment system this year.
This is part of Mayor Lazatin’s ease of doing business and promoting efficiency in the collection of RPTs. If implemented, this will be the first online payment operational nationwide.
According to the Mayor, this move is for all the real property taxpayers in the City since some of them are also busy at work and already based abroad or anywhere in the world.
“This is much easier for property owners in the City who are work-based, especially to those Angeleños who are overseas workers. This will be their avenue to settle their RPT payments on-time without lining up at the City hall offices,” he said.
The Mayor added the City is happy there are companies who are willing to assist in maximizing the usage of technology in a good way. He then shared this will also help for business venture here, as well as to cut red tape.
In fact, IB Solution – IBS Worldwide Corporation, who won the public bidding for P8,257,177.35, will be the partner of the City for RPT online payment, where property owners can pay quarterly or annually basis.
“Owners can pay in the comfort of their home where they will just provide their properties information such as the title number, owner’s full name, and relevant documents. This will be confidential as we are also observing Republic Act 10173 or Data Privacy Act of 2012,” he mentioned.
For the Mayor, RPT is one of the obliged taxes of the citizens, so the City is doing its best to use resources for quality services.
Meanwhile, it can be recalled that in 2002, Former Angeles City Mayor and 1st District Rep. Carmelo ‘Tarzan’ Lazatin pioneered the full-computerization of revenue-generating offices in the City Government where it became as the 1st ISO Certified outside Metro Manila.
IC Calaguas, the project head then and the Chief Adviser and Tactician now of Mayor Lazatin, ironed out this ease of doing business and RPT online payment system with Executive Asst. IV Reina Manuel, Roy Bato of IBS Worldwide Corp., City Treasurer Juliet Quinsaat, City Assessor Officer Lea Dizon, City Assessor’s Office Tax Mapper Michael Calaguas, and Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) Chief Jhun Bacani on January 3, 2020.
