AC named 2nd most improved HUC

ANGELES CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has named Angeles City as the second most improved Local Government Unit (LGU) for the category of highly urbanized city (HUC).

Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. personally received the award conferred by DTI Sec. Ramon Lopez during the 7th Regional Competitiveness Summit – 2019 Cities & Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Award at the Philippine International Convention Center.

Among the more than 1,500 LGUs participating in the event, Angeles City was recognized in terms of economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure and resiliency. Mayor Lazatin then thanked the DTI for their effort to acknowledge such LGUs in building a more competitive nation.

The said awarding was divided into four categories: 3rd to 6th Class Municipalities; 1st to 2nd Class Municipalities; Component Cities; and HUCs. In addition, an award for the Most Competitive Province and Most Improved Municipality will also be conferred.

Joining the Mayor during the awarding were City Treasurer Juliet Quinsaat, Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD) Chief Evangeline Malonzo, City Legal Officer Atty. Ralph Macalino and City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) personnel.
