ANGELES CITY – The City Government led by Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. records the second confirmed case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), but reaffirms the public that there is still no local transmission here.
The statement follows the second confirmed case of COVID-19 issued by the City Health Office (CHO) on April 5, 2020 who is currently admitted at a local hospital here.
The patient is a 65-year old lady from Barangay Sto. Domingo who had a travel history in Boracay in the second week of March.
She had shown COVID-19 symptoms last March 30, 2020 where she was immediately admitted at a local hospital and considered as a Person Under Investigation (PUI).
All family members and health workers who had close contact with the patient are now under the mandated 14-day quarantine. Proper disinfection is now being done by the hospital.
The City Government has already informed the barangay level and the City of San Fernando, which is a nearby location of the confirmed COVID-19 case.
Mayor Lazatin is appealing to the public to strictly abide to the safety measures being undertaken by the City Government.
At the time of writing, there are 72 Persons Under Monitoring (PUM) who are under self-quarantine and being strictly monitored by the City Health Office.
There are also 18 Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) — 12 are native of Angeles City and 6 are from other municipalities and cities confined in hospitals operating in Angeles City.
