Alert up in Caraga as ‘Bising’ intensifies

BUTUAN CITY – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Caraga Region (RDRRMC-13) has issued an alert to all local disaster management teams as Typhoon Bising intensified Friday.

RDRRMC-13 chairperson Liza R. Mazo said that as of 10 a.m., the typhoon is located 960 kilometers east of Surigao City.

Caraga Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, and possible floods and landslides may occur due to severe thunderstorms, the alert said.

In the next 24 hours, ‘Bising’ is expected to cause rough to very rough seas, or about 2.8 to 4.5 meters over the eastern seaboards in the region, particularly in Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte areas.

The RDRRMC alert also advised small sea crafts to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea.

“People living near the mountain slopes, in the low-lying areas of river systems and eastern seaboards and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) concerned are advised to monitor the weather disturbance and to take necessary precautionary measures,” it said.
