Alleged PAG member falls in Nueva Ecija; yields firearms, explosive

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A suspected member of a private armed group of a politician in Nueva Ecija was arrested by police authorities during a raid at Barangay Joson, Carranglan in that province.

The raiding team recovered three rifles including 12-gauge shotgun, a caliber .22 and an airgun and ammunition for different kinds of firearms. An MK ll fragmentation grenade was also found inside the house of Abe King Porwelos Cacayan, accused of robbery extortion.

Supt. Jay Dimaandal, head of the Special Concerns Unit (SCU), stationed in this regional police headquarters, said the suspect failed to present documents for the firearms.

“The seized items are loose firearms,” said Dimaandal who led his men in the search of Cacayan’s residence.

The suspect, Dimaandal said, claimed to be an officer of the Transnational Anti-Organized Crime – Intelligence Group, which was found to be a pseudo organization when checked.

The raid was conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Celso Baguio of Gapan City Regional Trial Court against the suspect for alleged illegal possession of firearms and explosive.

The suspect admitted he owns the rifles but he denied possession of the hand grenade. “Hindi ko alam kung bakit biglang meron ako granada. Yung mga baril sa akin yan.”

Dimaandal said the suspect was taken to Camp Olivas SCU detention cell as an appropriate criminal offense is being readied for filing in court against him.
