Alvaro sought to head CDC

Former Angeles City Councilor Irineo “Bong” Alvaro is being groomed to head the state-run Clark Development Corporation (CDC).

Alvaro served as former president of the BB International Leisure and Resort Development Corporation, the operator of the new Midori Clark Hotel and Casino.

Business groups in Pampanga had been convincing Alvaro to continue his legacy of service that he started as councilor of Angeles City.

“We want him (Alvaro) to serve the government in his capacity as CDC president where he can truly excel. He is most fit for the job,” the groups said.

The business groups urged President Rodrigo Duterte to appoint Alvaro for the CDC top post, which was vacated by former CDC president and CEO Arthur Tugade. Tugade had been appointed Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

Investors and local politicians in Pampanga have also called on the appointment of Alvaro to the top CDC post. They said President Duterte should select the “suitable person” for the said post.

Alvaro finished his doctorate degree in Public Administration at the Angeles University Foundation.

Earlier, Alvaro had been calling on the full development of the Clark International Airport, having met with Cebu Pacific executives for the possible entry of flights to Taipei.
