ANGELES CITY (PIA) — City government of Angeles provided aid to residents severely affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
In an interview during today’s Laging Handa Network Briefing, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr said they provided PhP1,000 cash assistance and vitamin C to each indigent senior citizen via house to house.
“We also gave our TODA (tricycle drivers) and jeepney drivers PhP1,000 each as well as our solo parents and persons with disabilities. We also gave them food packs per household,” Lazatin disclosed.
Apart from this, the city government gave food packs to all households and apartments. Also given were those in hotels who do not have anything to eat.
Moreover, Lazatin disclosed that there are now planning how to conduct mass testing.
“We are talking with our doctors and city health officers on the guidelines on how it will be done and who should be tested first. If the guidelines are finished by this week, our target is to start by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. We have allotted PhP20 million for mass testing alone,” the official furthered.
And lastly, Lazatin expressed support to calls for a modified extension of quarantine in Luzon.
“If we really want to flatten the curve, if you ask me personally, I would prefer to extend it so our citizens who like to go out will be prevented to go out. I am appealing to our citizens in Angeles, let us help by staying at home so the spread of coronavirus disease will be controlled,” he stressed.
