Baguio records 50th Covid-19 case

BAGUIO CITY – The city government here on Friday recorded two new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases and a single new case on Thursday, bringing the total to 50.

The Public Information Office (PIO)-Baguio reported a 58-year-old man from Bakakeng Norte village and a 22-year-old female from Loakan Liwanag village.

On Thursday, the PIO reported one case –a 25-year-old female mall worker from barangay Upper Quezon Hill.

The city has ordered the lockdown of the village to give way to contact tracing. Medical protocols have also been implemented at the workplace of the patient.

PIO chief Aileen Refuerzo said the patient has experienced symptoms and was swab tested at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) where she went for a check-up.

With the new cases, the Cordillera Administrative Region has a total of 129, of which 19 are active.

Baguio has four still active cases. The 44 have recovered and there are two mortalities.

The city accounts for 38.76 percent of the total cases in the region.

Benguet has 45 cases, nine active and 36 recoveries. It accounts for 34.88 percent of the total cases in the region.

Meanwhile, Apayao has 11 cases of which three are active; Abra with nine and one active; Kalinga has seven with one still in the hospital; Ifugao has six with three active, and Mountain Province had a single patient who has recovered.

The region has an 82.17-percent recovery rate. (PNA)
