BALANGA CITY — Various livelihood programs and community services were conducted this week in Balanga City in celebration of Cooperative Month 2018.
The weeklong event organized by the Balanga City Cooperative and Development Council engaged about 23 cooperatives in activities held in different barangays.
“This event is a way of giving back to the community for being tax-free citizens and raise awareness on how cooperatives affect their lives regarding business and employment,” City Cooperative Development Office Head Lolit del Rosario said.
Cooperatives were divided into five clusters to do their respective activities or community services in different barangays in Tenejero, Ibayo, Cupang West, Upper Tuyo and in Bahay Puso.
Activities include candle/dishwashing/fabric softener making, zumba, school supplies distribution, service to senior citizens, flower arrangement training, dental and medical mission, and tree planting.
This year’s Cooperative Month carries the theme “Cooperatives: Partners For Building Resilient and Empowered Communities Towards A Better And Stronger Philippines.” (CLJD/MJSD-PIA 3 with Avee Bernardo Buenaventura, intern)
