Tarlac City Jail celebrates National Correctional Consciousness Week

TARLAC CITY — Tarlac City Jail celebrated the National Correctional Consciousness Week with activities intended to rehabilitate and transform Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) into normal and responsible citizens.

“This celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 551 series of 1995. It aims to recognize and value the dignity of every PDL and guarantee full respect for human rights,” Tarlac City Jail Male Dormitory Warden Jail Superintendent Bernabe Olsim said.

With the theme “Pagbabago sa Kanlungan ng Piitan ay Tunay na Makakamtan sa Makabagong Pamamaraan” activities included provision of health and social services, Parole and Probation Information Drive, Spiritual and Legal Counselling, Dance For a Cause, and Exhibit of PDL Livelihood Products.

“One of the highlights of this celebration was the children’s party and gift-giving wherein children of some PDL were invited because we would like to show them and to let them feel that there are people who love them through their children,” Tarlac City Jail Female Dormitory Officer-in-Charge Cecilia Tamayo shared.
