DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — Farmers in Bataan will benefit from the second wave of the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA), and fuel subsidy of Department of Agriculture (DA).
About 6,732 farmers will each receive P5,000 under the RFFA as compensation for the projected reduction or loss of their farm income.
Moreover, 26 corn farmers and fisherfolk will each get P3,000 worth of fuel discount vouchers.
In a message, DA Secretary William Dar reiterated his call for unity among all stakeholders of the Philippine agriculture sector.
“The campaign for the 2022 elections is already finished, but our campaign against poverty and hunger in the agriculture sector is still continuous…This is the campaign we would like to have in the country: to increase our yield along with the profit of our farmers and fisherfolks. This should be sustained for a long term,” the cabinet official said.
He pledged DA’s commitment of helping the country toward food sufficiency amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Apart from RFFA and fuel subsidy, a total of 26 farmer cooperatives and associations in the province will also receive farm machineries and other technologies amounting to P32.7 million from the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization.
This is under Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund’s Mechanization component.
