Bataan solon files HB 7380 to develop more SEZs in Luzon

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES — Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine B. Roman recently filed a House Bill entitled “An Act Creating the Luzon Investment Corridor and The Regional Investment and Infrastructure Council.”

Roman told this reporter that her House Bill (HB 7380) aims to promote entrepreneurship and investments and encourage the creation of job and business opportunities by strengthening and expanding the powers of the SBMA, the Clark Development Corporation, and the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan.

“This bill, if passed into law, will allow the development of other Special Economic Zones in Luzon,” she said.

Roman added that it will also optimize the one connecting highway and possible railway in Luzon, four seaports in Subic, Mariveles, Manila and Batangas, and three airports in Subic, Clark, and Manila.

She said that these infrastructure assets must be utilize extensively to become catalysts of growth.

“If these assets were to be fully optimized there can be far reaching implications especially in agriculture, tourism and other vital industries,” she reiterated.
