BALANGA CITY – The Province of Bataan led by Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia will celebrate its 262nd founding anniversary on January 9-11, 2019.
The annual celebration before it became a law, started with a House Bill (HB 3718) jointly filed by Bataan representatives, Geraldine B. Roman (Bataan 1st District) and Jose Enrique S. Garcia III (Bataan 2nd District) seeking to declare January 11 of every year as Bataan Foundation Day, making it as a special non-working public holiday in the entire province.
It was enacted into law last November 8, 2018 when President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Republic Act 11138 or “An Act Declaring January 11 of Every Year a Special Non-Working Holiday in the Province of Bataan in Commemoration of Its Founding Anniversary to be Known as ‘Bataan Foundation Day.’”
Bataan Tourism Department thru their Facebook Page invites everyone to take part in a three-day celebration filled with various activities like the Choral and Folk Dance competition to be participated by different schools of the province on January 9 at the Bataan People’s Center.
Those who want to know more about the history of the province may attend the Bataan Historical Symposium facilitated by the keynote speaker, Dr. Cornelio Bascara on January 10 at 9:00 a.m.and 2:00 p.m. also at the Bataan People’s Center .
A festival feast of different municipalities will be showcased as they parade in the major streets of Balanga and everyone can catch a glimpse of the incredible performance of street dancers in colorful costumes at the Plaza Mayor de Ciudad de Balanga on January 11.
And finally, the outstanding performance of the Asian Philharmonic Orchestra with Concert Master, Merjohn Lagaya and a surprise guest artist will perform on January 11 at the Bataan People’s Center.
