PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista cited the urgent need for aviation infrastructure in order to cope with passenger growth.
PAL is expected to reach the 15 million passenger mark by end 2017. By next year, PAL passenger count is expected to reach 16 to 16.5 million.
“We need infra to cope with growth. We are bullish as far as aviation is concerned.”
We are renewing our proposal to the government for the construction of a new terminal and we are open to new partners in this initiative.”
PAL’s proposal is estimated at PHP 20 Billion or USD 400 Million.
IATA Director General Alexandre de Juniac said, “For the city the size of Metro Manila, it needs airport infrastructure with a capacity for 100 million passengers. The attractiveness of a hub is key. If the PH government makes good its plan to build infrastructure, this will mean economic benefits — 3.4 million jobs and 23 billion dollars contribution to GDP.”
