NEW CLARK CITY, Tarlac — Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and the municipality of Capas have reaffirmed their full support to the national athletes as they prepare for the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
Sports facilities at New Clark City hosted over the weekend pre-qualifying events that will determine those who will be part of the team in the 2019 edition of the biennial meet.
Philippine Swimming Inc. held the 1st Philippine National Open Swimming Championships at the 2,000-seater Aquatics Center while Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association conducted the final leg of its 2019 Weekly Relay Series at the 20,000-seater Athletics Stadium.
“This is our commitment to our athletes. We want them to really experience the facilities and give them leverage in the SEA Games,” BCDA President and CEO Vivencio Dizon said.
He noted that all the needs of the athletes will be provided including their three-month accommodation at the Athletes Village before to the international competition to practice and familiarize themselves with the facilities.
For his part, Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan guaranteed the safety and security of the national athletes who will reside in the New Clark City.
“Modesty aside, Capas was among the first class municipalities to be declared as drug-free so you have nothing to worry about. And as far as peace and order is concerned, I would like to inform you that Tarlac Police Provincial Office (TPPO) was hailed as the Best Police Provincial Office in the country,” Catacutan emphasized.
Prior to the arrival of the athletes, TPPO has deployed over 400 personnel to ensure the safety and security of the athletes, coaches and spectators during the pre-qualifying competitions.
