‘Bola Kontra Droga’ in San Miguel town

In a bid to achieve a drug-free Bulacan, Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando and the Damayang Filipino Movement, in coordination with the local government of San Miguel, Bulacan and Bulacan PNP conducted a celebrity basketball exhibition game at the covered court of Barangay Bulualto in this town on Friday evening.

The celebrity shoot-out and exhibition game with the theme “Bola Kontra Droga” was showcased by famous personalities including Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco, Mark Herras, JosepH Bitangcol, Marco Alcaraz, Jordan Herrera, JC Tiuseco and Derick Hubalde.

Fernando believed the youth could be saved from the dangerous effects of drugs if their attention will be diverted to enjoyable and worthy activities.

“Isang maganda at healthy na paraan upang maiiwas ang atensyon ng mga kabataan sa iligal na gawain katulad ng bawal na gamot ay ang hikayatin sila na matuto ng isports. Sa pamamagitan nito, hindi lamang nila mapasisigla ang kanilang pangangatawan bagkus ay kaya rin nilang hikayatin ang iba pang kabataan sa magagandang benepisyong dulot
nito,” Fernando said.

The celebrities led by Fernando played against the selected team of Bulacan PNP headed by Police Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna from different police stations. The law enforcers won the game with a score of 79-78.

Bersaluna added the Bulacan PNP supports the anti-drug advocacy campaign of the vice governor to make Bulacan a drug-free province.

The vice governor also expressed his sadness with the involvement of some celebrity personalities in illegal drugs. Just recently, actor CJ Ramos was arrested by police authorities in a drug operation along with actor Julio Diaz and Sabrina M..

Team Bulacan PNP led by Sr. Supt. Chito Bersaluna won by one point versus Celebrity Team headed by Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando.

A couple of weeks ago, “Bola Kontra Droga” was organized and had their pilot game exhibition at the Bulacan State University in the City of Malolos

Actor Jorros Gamboa said they were used as tools of God to encourage the youth to join the campaign initiated by Fernando against drugs.

The guest celebrities supported the advocacy of the Provincial government of Bulacan as Jc Tiuseco encourage the parents and teachers to incline the students in any sports activities.

Fernando added there is a celebrity shoot-out scheduled on September 4, 2018 at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Santa Maria and on September 25 at Bulacan Polytechnic College-Malolos.
