CITY OF MALOLOS – Amid the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Provincial Government of Bulacan commemorated the 442nd Founding Anniversary of the province on Saturday morning in front of the Provincial Capitol Building here.
Governor Daniel Fernando and Vice Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and ABC Federation president Board Member Raulito Capistrano led the wreath laying ceremony witnessed by some officials and head departments of the provincial capitol.
Strict implementation of health protocols were observed during the event since the province is still under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
Fernando said, this year’s commemoration due to COVID-19 pandemic is not like the usual annual celebration in the province with invited special guests and programs as they only conducted a wreath laying activity before the statue of Marcelo H. Del Pilar.
The governor said reminiscing history is recalling the purpose of the province, which has been home to millions of Bulakenyos in the past 442 years.
August 15 of every year is declared as Bulacan Foundation Day in The New Provincial Administrative Code of Bulacan and declared as a special non-working holiday under Proclamation 994 by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea by the authority of the Office of the President.
After the simple program, Fernando and Alvarado moved to the Hiyas ng Bulakan Convention Center for the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases meeting with the officials from the national, regional, provincial and local offices of the National Task Force COVID-19, a coordinated operation to defeat the pandemic.
