Bulacan commemorates 440th founding anniversary

The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado celebrated the 440th Founding Anniversary of the province as graced the event at the Capitol Gymnassium on Wednesday.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff General Carlito Galvez, Jr. who is also a Bulakenyo from Bustos town said the historical events happened in Bulacan has molded the country and the Filipino’s courage in the present generation.

Alvarado for his part said: “The establishment of our great province also marks the birth of a priceless town, because in our land was born one-third of the history of our country of the Philippines. So we ought to honor and appreciate the meaning of this great day.”

The governor added that Gen. Galvez will be one of the Bulacan’s “Dangal Ng Lipi” awardee to be held next month.

Meanwhile, Jaime Veneracion, a writer, historian and professor, shared the difference between being a resident of Bulacan and being a Bulakenyo.

August 15 was also declared as a special non-working holiday in the province.

A Holy Mass started the event followed by a flag raising ceremony with hundreds of the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s employees and thousands of Bulakenyos.
