P2.9M shabu seized in Meycauayan drug bust

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Anti-illegal drugs operatives seized on Tuesday some P2.9 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) while two persons were arrested during a buy bust at a popular food chain in Barangay Malhacan, Meycauayan, Bulacan.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Luzon director Gil Pabilona identified the suspects as John Paul Palanca, 38, of Bgy. Lingonan, Valenzuela City and Marivic Solveto, 38, of Marilao, Bulacan. Both did not resist arrest.

Pabilona said the suspects’ arrest was a result of high-impact anti-illegal drugs operations, carried out by PDEA against suspected ‘bigtime’ traffickers of shabu and other prohibited drugs operating in the country.

The Central Luzon PDEA chief said Palanca and Solveto were placed under heavy surveillance by government agents following reports of their alleged involvement in illegal drugs trade in Bulacan and nearby areas.

On Tuesday, Pabilona said the suspects and a PDEA undercover agent agreed to meet somewhere in Valenzuela City but later changed mind and transferred the place of meeting at a fast food chain in Meycauayan City in Bulacan.

“Both closed the deal and agreed to exchange hands at the fast food chain,” said Pabilona in a statement sent to media.

The seized items and suspects were taken to PDEA regional office for further investigation as violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act is being readied against them.
