Bulacan governor suspends classes due to Typhoon ‘Tisoy’

CITY OF MALOLOS – To ensure the safety of Bulakenyos, Governor Daniel R. Fernando through its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on Tuesday cancelled classes in all levels both in public and private due to Typhoon Tisoy.

Based on the Situation Report No. 3 released by the PDRRMO, the province of Bulacan is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 2, which can be classified under the Alert Level Bravo (Orange Alert) inside the 520 km Diameter from the forecast track wherein intermittent to occasional heavy rains and 60 to 120 kph winds can be experienced.

Accordingly, Fernando gave his directives regarding the preparation needed and instructed the PDRRMO to conduct the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) immediately to disseminate information among the concerned offices of the PGB.

“Hindi natin kayang kontrolin ang mga sakuna o kalamidad pero kaya nating gawan ng paraan upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng ating mga kalalawigan. Hinihiling ko ang inyong kooperasyon at pakikipagtulungan upang mapaghandaan natin mabuti ang paparating na bagyong Tisoy,” the governor said.

In addition, The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office will also manage the Bulacan Sports Complex, which will be used as the evacuation center in case a disaster occurred while the Provincial Engineer’s Office have 2 trucks and 1 elf on standby for evacuation of people in high-risk areas and to cater stranded passengers on highways.

As of 7:00 pm of Monday, the eye of Typoon Tisoy is moving west at 20 kph, which is located at 90 km east of Juban, Sorsogon (12.9 °N, 124.8 °E) with a maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness up 230 kph.

Frequent to continuous and heavy to intense rains will be experienced over CALABARZON and Central Luzon between tomorrow morning until evening.
