Bulacan town holds lechon fest vs ASF

PANDI, Bulacan  — Some one hundred roasted pigs were served to over 4,000 residents, municipal employees and barangay officials during lechon festival hosted by Mayor Enrico Roque and the Livestock Raisers of Pandi (LIRAP) hog raisers association on Tuesday at Barangay San Roque Sports Complex covered court to show that pork products being sold in the local market are safe to eat.

Roque together with Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, and guest DILG Assistant Secretary for Peace and Order Manuel B. Felix and Sangguniang Bayan officials spearheaded the boodle fight to demonstrate that eating roasted pigs in this town is safe and ASF-free.

Coinciding in the said activity is Roque’s first 100 days’ Municipal State of the Nation Address (MSONA) where he laid all his accomplishment programs through his 10-point agenda and ongoing projects.

Livestock Raisers of Pandi President Mercy Zhiu said that all pigs in the said town are safe and weekly blood tests are being conducted.

The mayor assured his constituents that the 1-7-10 protocol of the Department of Agriculture (DA) is being implemented to prevent the spread of the virus.
