CAPAS, Tarlac — Municipal government of Capas implemented proactive measures against the threat of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan said there is an on-going municipal-wide disinfection operation in all government offices, public and private schools, churches, and public market.
“We have already procured medicines and vitamins readily available for our constituents,” he noted.
Also, the local chief executive prohibited jeepneys and tricycles to operate from 8:00PM of March 17 until the declaration of Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine is lifted.
“We have designated transport service in every barangay for residents who need to buy food, medicines and other supplies. This program is free for everyone especially to those who do not have their own private vehicle,” he said.
Aside from these, Catacutan enforced mandatory home quarantine, suspension of public events and classes, curfew for all ages from 8:00PM to 5:00AM, total liquor ban, and temporary closure of commercial resorts, flea markets, KTV bars, pisonet, internet cafes, and other entertainment hubs in town.
In terms of basic services, Catacutan stressed that service providers are not allowed to disconnect the internet connection, cable, water and electricity of the residents. Lending companies are likewise barred from collecting payment.
On top of these measures, Capas created its Task Force COVID-19 to help contain the spread of virus and to enforce the protocols and guidelines of the Department of Health in low cost hygiene, social distancing intervention, proper dissemination among others.
The task force is headed by Catacutan and composed of Capas municipal staff, all barangay captains, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officers, Municipal Social Welfare and Development head, Training and Doctrine Command, Armor Division, 710th Special Operations Wing and Chief of Private Hospitals within Capas.
