CDC guards who killed rookie cop face the slammer

Three guards of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) who shot and killed a rookie policeman in December last year are facing murder and theft charges.

This, after CCTV footages indicated PO1 Jomar Batul was talking to the three guards inside the Clark Freeport Zone prior to his shooting death at the parking lot in front of SM Clark on December 24, 2015.
The three CDC guards were identified as Honey Bernardo, Jake Machinal, and Wilson Laza. The three guards have reportedly filed for indefinite leave.
Another CCTV footage taken at the hospital premises where Batul was taken showed one of the guards carrying the bag of Batul allegedly containing P40,000.

Investigations have it that Batul tested negative for gun powder burns and no firearm was recovered from him.

Batul, who is detailed at the Provincial Public Safety Company of the Oriental Mindoro PNP, was reportedly shot in his back.

The guards reported that Batul allegedly attempted to steal a motorcycle parked in front of a fastfood chain at Bertaphil inside Clark before commandeering a passing vehicle for a short ride to SM Clark.

A warrant of arrest has already been issued for the three CDC security guards.

Batul’s wife said they were only vacationing inside the Clark Freeport when her husband met his grim fate.
