The Clark International Airport Corporation is celebrating its 24th anniversary this February 2019 and it has come a long way since it was established in the early 90’s.
The government owned and controlled corporation had survived so many challenges and I think it will again overcome the challenges in the face of the impending privatization of the Clark International Airport. Some say there are pros and cons in the privatization of the airport, but whatever will it be ,I hope that it will benefit all the employees at CIAC.
CIAC is now on its 24th year, and since then the operator of the Clark airport has done a very good job in attracting flights as well as investments that has made an impact in the aviation industry in the country. Clark airport is now bustling with more than 700 flights weekly in both International and Domestic. An average of 11,000 passengers daily using Clark airport.
The airport also made an unprecedented 2.6 million passengers in 2018 and so it will continue in the coming years as the government is rushing the construction of a New Passenger Terminal Building with a capacity of 8 million per annum. The project is expected to be completed by 2022 that will further attract more flights.
Yes, Clark airport is definitely on its way of becoming the country’s premier airport of the North of Philippines, thanks to the support of President Rodrigo Duterte who made it all possible since he took the presidency in the last presidential elections.
A lot of infrastructures are currently being build inside the Clark Freeport Zone among them is the New Clark City which is the main highlight of the government’s Build, Build, Build program in Clark.
This year, South East Asian Games will be held inside Clark and again it will benefit Clark airport since most of the athletes and delegates will use the airport.
Clark airport plays hosts to various air carriers such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, Philippines Air Asia, Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Dragon, Scoot (Tiger Air), Asiana Airlines, Jinair, Jeju Air, China Eastern Airlines, Royal Air, Air Swift, and among others which had established their international and domestic routes. And more are expected to come in the coming months.
Things are looking great for Clark International Airport.
