Civil Engineering student tops SSS-PIA Shirt design contest

TARLAC CITY — Civil Engineering student Joseph Carlo Pineda placed first in the Shirt Design Contest of Social Security System (SSS) and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) at Tarlac State University.

Pineda bested 11 other contestants receiving a certificate, gift from SSS and Php3,500 cash prize.

“From a peso of contribution, one will gain security. My design comprises a symbol that represents the benefits of contributing to SSS. A shield is highlighted at the center to represent the security that a person can acquire from SSS,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Civil Engineering student Pauline Grace Manzano landed second and got a certificate plus Php2,500 cash prize while Communication Arts student Ma. Teresa Madriaga ended third and took home a certificate and Php1,500 cash prize.

“PIA will be holding multi-sectoral and campus forums in all provinces of Central Luzon this year to disseminate the various programs of SSS in the hope of attracting new members as well as encouraging inactive members to pay their contribution,” PIA Regional Director William Beltran said.
