Clark set to host Pinas Cup 2016

CLARK FREEPORT – The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) welcomes the staging of Pinas Cup 2016 inside this Freeport as more than 7,000 football enthusiasts are expected to attend the event, including five international teams.

Set on October 28 to 30, 2016 for its 5th staging, the biggest football tournament in the country is expected to bring in over 100 teams, including youth groups from Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and the Philippines.

The organizers of the event informed CDC Officer-in-Charge Noel F. Manankil that 2,500 players, and 5,000 parents, spectators and fans will be coming over to play, cheer and enjoy the festivities during the four-day football tournament in Clark.

Manankil said Clark has become a sports-tourism destination because of the growing number of events being held in Clark almost every month.

The Pinas Cup is an International Invitational Youth Football Tournament held in the Philippines and organized by the Manila Soccer Academy in cooperation with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), as an officially sanctioned tournament.

The CDC Tourism and Promotions Department, headed by Noemi Garcia, is now coordinating with the organizers of the event to ensure the success of the football tournament in Clark.

Being an International Youth Tournament, the PINAS CUP is meant to bring together excellent youth football teams not only from the three major islands but also teams from any corner of the globe that are willing to both compete and foster youth camaraderie in our friendly shores, the website (http://www.pilipinascup.com) stated.

Doing away with local or regional qualifying rounds, the Pinas Cup simply invites and attracts many of the best clubs or teams, those with serious interest in pitting their brand of football against the any other proud clubs that wish to claim this CUP, the organizers of the event said.

“While espousing to be a quality tournament that raises the level of play of our youth with excellent pitches, high quality games, selected local teams, invited international teams, and a competitive tournament format, the Pinas Cup is a festival of football for our young players and families alike,” the website added.
