Concepcion town initiates ‘rolling stores’

CONCEPCION, Tarlac (PIA) — Municipal government of Concepcion has initiated rolling stores in order to limit the number of persons going out as Enhanced Community Quarantine remains in effect.

“Our constituents no longer need to go out of their barangays to buy their basic needs because the vendors will be the one going to the different barangays,” Mayor Andy Lacson said.

Beginning today, only wholesalers will be allowed to buy in the public market. These wholesalers will be given transportation to deliver their goods to their known consumers as well as roll out in all the barangays.

Grocery stores, likewise, will be closed and will be going to the barangays to get orders from sari-sari stores. ‘Order now, deliver tomorrow’ scheme, which implies grocery stores will get the orders of sari-sari stores and deliver the next day will be implemented.

Existing rolling stores in barangays may still continue rolling out their goods provided they strictly follow precautionary measures.

Lacson added this is not only to limit the movement of the people but also ensure the safety of everyone through conducting disinfection of store owners before rolling out in the different barangays.

To monitor the prices, Lacson said price lists will be posted in all sari-sari stores.

Concepcion Municipal Police Station was also tasked to distribute newly-created quarantine passes to health workers, wholesalers, bank and remittance center workers, farmers, other workers catering to basic necessities and those who need to buy medicines.

“As much as we’d like to open our stores, we do not want to compromise the safety our municipality, hence, may I remind everyone that this is only temporary so I ask for your cooperation,” Lacson furthered.
