UP Confucius, CCA all set for Chinese Spring Festival 2017

The Confucius Institute at the University of the Philippines – Diliman (CI-UPD) and the City College of Angeles (CCA) through the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) are set to celebrate the chinese new year through the Chinese Spring Festival on January 27 to February 3.

Dubbed as “Rediscover Filipino-Chinese arts, culture and heritage”, the festival aims to showcase and to share the different cultures and traditions using different art forms.

CI-UPD and CCA mutually agree to collaborate in designing programs that will provide Chinese language and culture learning in the institution, upgrade the quality of Chinese language instruction through immersion programs in China, capacity-building for teachers, and students and faculty scholarship grants in the Chinese language.

According to Dr. Richard Daenos, CCA President, the cultural exchange activity aims to recognize the importance of preparing students to become professionals who are ready to meet the challenges of global education in the new millennium.

“The City College of Angeles has been identified by the League of City of the Philippines as an institution capable of delivering the Chinese language and cultural programs of the CI-UPD,” said Dr. Daenos.

“This cultural exchange will give more access to the students on the job opportunities outside the Philippines and will also give them the edge to excel in their chosen field,” he added.

In celebration of the Spring Festival, activities were lined-up for the said festival.

To welcome the Chinese Spring Festival 2017, a concert will be held in UP Town Center Amphitheater and Marquee Mall, Angeles City on January 27 and 28 respectively.
